Campus Growers
Campus Growers Wiki is designed to serve as a resource for all university farms and gardens across the nation to share information and knowledge catered to sustainable growing practices on campuses.
Campus Growers Wiki was developed as student gardeners at the University of Wisconsin - Madison saw the need to increase communication, networking and relationship-building between university student farms. As colleges across the country are starting up small-scale farms to display the viability of farming organically, we saw the need for universities to work together in developing farming models specific to university settings. Acknowledging the current lack in systematic communication and planning between universities, UW-Madison student gardeners have developed this Wiki open-source site to connect the experiences of student farms across the country.
Our Common Goal
As each farm begins to share information and resources, we can work together to create, assist and strengthen student gardens. By posting information about your college farm, how students participate in farming on your campus and how your university promotes sustainable growing practices, we can begin networking to build a community that reinforces one another.
As affiliated Campus Growers, colleges that post will benefit from the efficiency and assistance of working within a network. Each student farm or garden has a narrative and story of its own. No matter how large or small, or where in the planning process your farm is, sharing your farm’s stories will not only inspire another farms across the country, your story will also create a community united in a quest to farm more sustainably.
